Vive L'France, and Harry Potter, and Transformers

Happy Bastille day. I don't know much french, well ... hardly any french.

I know "bon jour"

"Je m'appelle ..."

"Je vous en prie"

"De rien."

"Ca fait combien?"

That's pretty much it.

I've been seeing movies and I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, (OotP). It was fickin' fantastic. I loved the visuals and how they streamlined the book in to a slick, well working film. So many times a book translated in to a film is so difficult for some movie makers. They want to get everything from the book, inside the film, or they don't do the book justice, because they really can't capture the authors voice, or any number of things. In OotP they really did the book justice. I mean, it doesn't take away from the book, and it really gets to the heart of what the book was about. Hot little Danny Radcliffe. Call me a pervert, call me a monster, but damn!

I was talking to Sam last night, and being someone who hasn't read any of the books, and only seen the films, he said it was his least favorite of the films. There were just jumps in the story that needed a little more explaining for him, unlike those of us who've read the books and insert those missing things from the book and not miss them, to form a more complete story arc. I can't remember what Sam actually said he missed, but it was something about motivation, he wasn't sure where it came from, from a couple of the characters. I thought, well then sucka, you just gonna have to read the books. Just like, I'm going to have to read book six, Harry Potter and the Half blood Prince.

I know, I know. It was just when I got to the sixth book I was done. Call it Harry Potter overload. I just didn't care anymore. I thought, "eh... I'll see the movie when it comes out."
Now, since I've seen OotP, I am finally ready to read book six, in it's entirety. Because, I did skip to the end and read the end. I do that sometimes.

I also saw Transformers. OH MY GOD! It was just awesome. So action packed, save for the twenty five minutes in the middle that dragged, where I guess we needed all that exposition. They really could of shaved off at the most, thirty minutes.
Alien robots blowing shit up! I mean, you can't get any better than that. Shia Labeouf was meh, but that chick who plays his love interest, so bad! Real terrible!

The movie was very pro-American army, American cars, American government, America! Fuck Yeah! I sang to Carrie in the middle of the film, "Cause, I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free..."

Ugh! Such a great night of cheese-nostalgia-blowupy-action-transforming cars-action-boy-film. I give it a B+. It was a little long.

If you are a fan of the comics, cartoon, or toys of the 80's you'll notice, when we first see Bumble-Bee as the Camaro, it is parked right next to an old yellow VW bug! wink-wink!
