Air-Raid!

In my rush to find new love I picked a dud! I went on a date with someone I met online. Yes, online. His name is Jeff and I was so bored. I wasn't so bored in the beginning. I met him at a hole in the wall pub in Alameda called McGrath’s a relaxed place and the people were nice enough. I had two Guinness’s. Jeff had a Bass. That's funny to me because up until now, I didn't connect the two. He fishes. And he orders a Bass. That's funny. He's worked for UPS as long as he's been out of high school, about 8 years, doesn't want to leave the company anytime soon, and has no desire to travel outside the U.S. He used to be a theater techie. Then he decided to start working full time at UPS. Let's just say I was so bored I was willing to do anything to go home with him just to have it turn out interesting. Oh yeah, He collects coins too. So at the end of the night, "I'd really like to see your coin collection sometime."

Ugh! It didn't happen. He was too far up in the closet's ass to get it. It made me reflect though. Perhaps I haven't been a very good gay man especially at the office. I decided to be gayer, as it were. And thus far the folks here at The Planning Shop have taken it in stride. I haven't come to the office in drag, yet. It's just that I think people from time to time forget I'm gay. Vera told me once that she forgets that I'm a gay man; she forgets that I'm a man at all! So I reassessed and Told Jeff, it was great to meet someone new and goodnight.

I of course went directly to Patty's afterward and we talked about it. She hugged me till the numbness went away. But I was still left with a sort of emptiness. Am I destined to be alone? It seems I haven't attracted a guy in months and then online I attract this guy. I have to say I'm starting to feel a little left out of the big gay dream. Do I have to go to a stupid meat market gay club to find a man? Where do I find men?

Vera hasn't had that problem of course. She's a heterosexual woman. Men are everywhere for her. 9 out of the ten times the guy is straight. She came over to Patty's to talk about Aldo. It seems that he maybe on the way out. At a party on Easter Sunday Vera was the bell of the ball. He took her to his friend’s party. All the other Italians were lining up to talk to her. Aldo was out of Vera's eyesight for most of the party. She met several Alessandro’s and even a guy that looks like bald-hot-British-guy from Queer Eye for the Straight Girl. She had a blast. She left with Aldo. But the morning after was still feeling a little left out, like she’s the only one in this relationship. Little though the relationship may be it’s one none-the-less. She started to wonder if he was going to meet her half way.

Meanwhile, while Mines and Vera's dating lives were cooling off. Elise was in the delivery room with Rosemary. Carlos and Rosemary both asked her to be in the room with them while Rose delivered. Elise was the happiest she's been in a long time. She saw and did as much as she could. She breathed with Rose, massaged her, saw the head come out, saw the placenta. When Vera and I got to the hospital there was this little baby girl. Perfect. Elise, Vera and I agreed that we all wanted to have a child. Whether any of us are ready to have children is still up in the air.

While the three of us were at the hospital with Rosemary's Baby, Patty was girling it up with girlish glee. Like most of us she has always wanted to look her cutest. And the lucky thing, she works at a spa. So girlfriend gets a discount on her stuff. So that night she got a massage, a facial where they suck your pores clean of dirt and oil and an Eyebrow waxing. Her brows looked amazing. Perfect. And just a week ago she dyed her hair a nice deep reddish auburn color. Now all we need to do is go shopping for a new outfit, then "damn"!

What are we looking for when it comes to men? How do we meet them? And will they stay? It all seems so up in the air I'm wondering when things will start to fall in to place.
