I've applied to school! And, I'm nervous. More nervous than I expected. After I sent in all the UCLA supplemental information and updated my FAFSA, reality set in. I'm not 20 years old transferring to a four year university. I'm an adult returning to school. Yikes!
I have an interview in February for UCLA as well. They, of course, want their prospective students to jump through as many hoops as possible. I would have auditioned for the theater department but I'm a directing major and I need to bring in a play that I'd would like to direct and discuss. I'm thinking about Holy Ghosts by Romulus Linney.
Holy Ghosts is a story of a Southern Appalachian Pentecostals. The story centers around Coleman Shedman, a man seeking to retrieve his runaway wife at the rural meeting house. His wife, Nancy, is unwilling to forsake the love and protection of her husband-to-be Reverend Obediah Buckhorn, and return to her brutal, hard-drinking Coleman. Rich with the atmosphere and the feel of the rural Southern life, the play blends humor and poignancy as it probes into the circumstances and stories of various members of this unusual congregation.
I really fell in love with the play when I saw at Chabot. Anyway, There is still much to think about and do. There's even an election coming up, HOLY GHOSTS!
